In the Complete Childbirth Preparation Class you will learn about...

  • Basic anatomy and physiology of pregnancy and childbirth
  • Phases and stages of labor and coping strategies for each with an emphasis on natural birth
  • Common interventions and how to discuss them with your care provider
  • Evidence based practice and current models of maternity care
  • Honoring the childbearing year as a profound physical, emotional, spiritual journey
  • The journey from Partners to Parents
  • Bonding and breastfeeding in the first hour after birth
  • Crossing over from pregnant to postpartum: your physical adjustment
  • How to know breastfeeding is going well – where to get help if it’s not
  • The first few weeks with a newborn – what your baby can do and integrating the new family
  • Integrating your birth experience into your new life balance

What to Bring to class...

  • Pillows, birth ball, or bean bag chair (we’ll be on the floor for some of the class, so plan accordingly)
  • Paper and Pen
  • Something to keep you hydrated (ie water)
  • Wear comfortable clothing
